Youth Program
Tuesday, May 8
Screening
7 pm
2007 is the year herland will introduce a youth segment to the festival. We want to preview work that deals with several of the different issues that our youth face in today's society, and hopefully, inspire them to look to the arts as a way of expressing themselves and their life. We would also encourage parents to attend as it may provide insight into the different issues that youth are challenged with and possibly provoke discussion within families.
E-Race
Directed by Elaine Carol
2006, 53 minutes
Distributor: Moving Images Distribution

E-race is a screen adaptation of the live-award winning, hip hop musical
performance which explores young peoples attraction and addiction to speed
- including street racing, drinking, drugging, gangs, crystal meth, racism,
and early sexual activity. E-race works backward in time to expose the
root causes of a deadly street race that took place in Richmond, British
Columbia. It was written and performed by a cast of culturally diverse,
at-risk, and
mainstream youth in their mid-teens and twenties with a team of professional
artists.
