Core Members

If you are interested in helping decide what next year's festival looks like and in bringing all of its parts together - then being a core member may be for you!

Being 'core' means a strong commitment to herland. It begins with monthly meetings from September to January where you would collectively begin deciding on the festival's organizational strategy.

From February to April meetings would occur every two weeks as all the various stages of the festival are finally co-ordinated and brought together.

And in May, you see all your hard work come together to make herland's 16th festival a success!

Programming

Call for Programmers Information Sheet

As a programmer, you and your committee are responsible for choosing the films and videos that make it into our festival. This job involves a lot of video watching and lively debate. Programming begins in early fall and must be completed by no later than January 1, 2007.

- managing the video library and archives
- managing film and video submission entries
- compiling advertiser, sponsor, funder and supporter address lists
- finding hotel sponsor for visiting artists
- promoting herland at Pride Parade and Folk Festival merchandising and program - guide design committee

- festival publicity strategy and blitz
- finding advertisers and printing sponsorship

winter
- choosing the festival 'image'
- compiling and editing program guide
- ordering the chosen films for the festival
- writing acceptance letters to independent artists
- sending film info to the film classification board
- over seeing booty bags for visiting artists

- mailing out program guides to advertisers, sponsors, etc…
