IN:Camera Production Workshop

Thursday, May 10

8:30 pm

For 10 days, through February 15-25, 2007, nine women experienced an intensive journey taking them through the process of filmmaking including: social awareness, story development, production logistics, camera, directing, and editing. Individually and together these women explored personal expression through their creative vision resulting in a remarkable collection of short films.

From its inception, this unique workshop was designed to create a space for women with limited access and experience in film production. Guided by established and experienced women media makers, an intensive creative environment was designed to facilitate the powerful process from thought to image. This is an incredible opportunity for women, through a women's run organization, to be instructed and mentored by fellow women artists.

A very special thank you goes to the facilitators Sandi Somers and Shauna Kennedy for their dedication, enthusiasm and expertise that created the powerful foundation for this workshop.

We also acknowledge and appreciate the collaboration of the workshop leaders, who as well added their insight into this filmmaking process: Shereen Samuels, Sharon Stevens, Brenda Terning, Eva Colmers, and Kelly Strong. In addition, many thanks to Brenda Terning and Melissa Burton for contributing their expertise and time in editing, as well as Nina Staum for her assistance in the editing suites.

In:Camera extends a warm thank you to the organizers and volunteers for their time and contribution in making this workshop a success: Sandi Somers, Corinne Cornish, Tamrin Hildebrandt, David Jones, Melody Jacobson, Brendan French, Sharon Stevens, Michelle Haywood and Peter Curtis Morgan.

herland’s In:Camera Film Production Workshop gratefully acknowledges the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

An immense thank you goes to CSIF for allowing this workshop to take place in their space, providing us with technical and administrative support and for recognizing and supporting the value of this project in the media arts community.
